Just hit the issue 1st hand! Solution was simple:

1. Disconnect any iDevices attached to the computer;

2. Close iTunes and restart computer from cold;

3. Start iTunes, sign-out of iTunes Store, sign-in again and start iTunes Match;

4. Allow Match whatever time it needs to settle;

5. Connect the iDevice directly via USB.

All now working very well - no sign of 4002 or any strange iCloud status - phew!

Thanks for the advice, sadly this has made no difference to Itunes Match. It is as if the server at the other end is not responding...

Amazing that we upgrade our OS and then we lose one of the key parts of our isystem...

Good job we didn't pay for this service, oh hang on a minute we did..!

all of a sudden Amazon cloud is starting to appealing...

How odd ... on my version prior to the steps outlined the error was presented at Stage 1 in the iTunes Match sequence - as you say it looked like no significant local activity but an inability to complete (perhaps due to network or far-end server timeout).

The only difference in configuration is that you are using an MBP with Apple OS, whilst my system is Microsoft OS. Can only suggest you try the original sequence once again in http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_solve_the_iTunes_error_4002.

Best of luck!

When iTM was working earlier today it was fine apart from the "new" way of playing tracks on your device. this is the forth or fith time this error has come up while updating iTM.

There is obviously something that is wrong with the latest OS uodates as there are lots of threads with "fixes" for the error. I presume when there are enough complaints Apple will put out an update. I think they probably have their work cut out trying to fix the issues with iMaps and us lowly iTM customers will have to wait for them to fix that first.

Happy Days 🙂
