When looking at an image on Safari why does it just show a question mark in a blue box instead?

For older versions of Safari ...

Safari > Preferences > Appearance

Make sure: Display images when the page opens is selected.

Thanks but that was already selected. Any other ideas?

Might be a third party plugin installed that's preventing images from loading.

If installed, temporarily disable anti virus software.
