My son put all his purchased songs in the trash then emptied his trash can, can I recover them. Any help please

My son has put all his purchased songs by mistake into the trash can, he then emptied deleted his trash . I have tried to download all purchased songs again but they haven't the album art work has all down loaded but no songs. The song have an exclamation by the name. I have been through finder and the media file and iTunes file are both empty. Any help would be gratefully received thank you.
