OK, I've downloaded two books that show in iTunes. With my iPhone connected to the iMac, it shows two books but when I go to iBooks they don't show on the iPhone, but they are on the iPad. What am I doing wrong here?

When the iPhone is connected to iTunes, go to the Books tab (top right) and check Sync books.
It is grayed out and won't let me tick it.
Are you using the same Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, and computer (iTunes)? Are you relying on iCloud to sync bookmarks, etc.?

OK, then go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone and make sure books is set to "On" and your Apple ID is set correctly at the top.
I still don't have the books on my iPhone. Guess I'll give up.
