Q: I think I made a new user by mistake - HELP PLEASE.

Hi,

Big problem (probably easy solution).

Am on a friend's old MacBook running Tiger.

Without going into details, he wanted to change the name of the HOME folder (with the house) - let's say originally it was called "Green" now is "Cat".

He also wanted to change the person in his address book who gets the "account user" icons (the sillouette of faces) to another person (again, "Green" is now Cat").

Now, what I did was just change the name of the HOME folder (with the house)... by just selecting and entering the new name.

Then I changed the Address Book "Account User" person and took a different photograph w/ iBooth.

Then I tried Safari and Firefox - both of which kept on shutting down early whenever I'd go to Youtube.

I then went to Utilities... and repaired disk permissions using Disk Utility.

I restarted computer - and to my surprise:

Everything was gone - like it was a brand new computer.

I went to:  Hard Drive>Users> and found the HOME folder (with the house) - to be the original name before I change it ("Green"), this time with only a new Desktop and Library folders inside.  I also found a regular ol' folder - with the name I had changed on my own (of the HOME folder originally) "Cat" - with everything as the computer originally had it: a Desktop (with some alias folders), Library, Documents, etc...

Somehow the computer is not recognizing the regular ol' folder "Cat" - which does not have a HOME folder or icon in it.  I think I created another user by accident - and don't know how to work it all out so it's correct.

Can anyone help me out?

Thank you in advance!
