Is there dust inside camera lens of iPhone 5?

I bought my new iPhone 5 on 28th of September from a local Telco.

Today I noticed inside the camera lens there is dust.

I'm very disappointed 😊

I'm seeing the same thing on my iPhone 5. I just noticed it today so I don't know how long it's been there (got mine on launch day). Here are some photots I took with my iPad (only other camera I had). I have not noticed anything on any of the photos I've taken with the iPhone but, then again, I haven't done any extensive testing either.

Not sure what I'll do about it (closest Apple Store is 2 hours away and, again, haven't noticed anything on the photos I've taken).

Mine looks just as bad as yours. I had my original replaced about 2 weeks ago because it came pre-dented in the corners out of the box. Had two dents int he aluminum banding and a scratch on the back. I opened a case with Apple that day and they replaced a couple days later. Now I'm noticing that I have a severe amount of dust under my lens, similar to yours.

I want to return my iPhone 5 but I'm sort of locked into the whole iCloud thing now and I use a Mac so its terribly convenient.

I had the same issue as well. I took my phone to the Apple store and they replaced my phone. Though they did replace the phone, they said it was a one time only replacment as this was deemed my fault. Not exacly sure where the dust is coming from, but I find it hard to believe that I'm doing anything out of the ordinary that would cause my camera lens to be almost completely covered in dust.

The dust is UNDER the lens. I have 2 days remaining in my return period. I'm probably going to return my 5 and get a 4S. People with 4's and 4S's I've shown te dust are speechless. It's getting really bad now, I'd estimate over 10% of the lens is covered with dust. I'm going to confirm at the Apple store, but if I buy AppleCare and it would replace my phone or clean it and replace my case (I use a ghost shield now, never used a bulky case. Why put a case on a phone I buy for its slimness?) then I might keep it.

I have this with my black iPhone as well. I was actually shocked at the amount of dust in the lens. I had an iPhone 4 for 2 years before and there was no noticeable dust under the lens. I've only had this iPhone 5 for about 2 weeks and it's already showing a huge amount. I noticed the mic beside the lens is very dusty so I'm wondering if the dust isn't coming in through there. I'm going to keep my phone for a while (which also has screen interlacing and disgusting looking glue between the glass and metal) until quality control gets better and hopefully get a replacement.

I'm still waiting on mine to ship but if there's dust inside the lens cover I'm returning it. Seems like Foxconn is not doing their quality control job prior to shipping!

Out of curiosity...if you order an iPhone from the apple store online...do you have to return in through the online process or can you just walk into an apple store and complain?

Just noticed dust in my iPhone 5 camera and it affects photos. There are 7 specs on each and every photo, similar to the pic above.

So, this month I've had to replace my Retina MBP screen for the second time due to ghosting problems and a dead pixel, my new 2012 Mac Mini has serious HDMI problems as reported in forums here, my new LTE iPad 4 has a home button problem where it doesn't register some presses and now my iPhone 5 has dust in the camera?

WHAT IS HAPPENING AT APPLE QUALITY CONTROL?!?
