iBook G3 Taking A LONG TIME to boot

Hi Family...

I have got yet another interesting issue for you guys to help me solve...

My iBook G3 take a LONG time to boot into OSX

So, ive tried many things, from zapping the pram, setting defaults in open firmware... and the list goes on

but when i boot in to single user mode or verbose, it sometimes shows this line of code

"BSD root: disk0s3, major 14, minor 2"

And sometimes stays there for a while....

I cant boot from my OS cd as my combo drive is being an ******* (Example: I would insert the disc, close the tray, you could hear it wind up *wheeeeeee* then stops, beeps *beep* and winds up again *wheee* then well kinda stops)

Any suggestions? Hard Drive Failiure? OS Corruption? Logic Board? All 3 of them?

iBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11), G3, Model # M6497
