No Ethernet signal

No Ethernet signal

I have an imac I'm trying to connect to the Internet. I have a good cable as I used it on my other Mac. When I connect turn look in network preferences I see a red dot Nxt to Ethernet, I can turn airport on but no Ethernet any help

Try a SMC Reset.

SMC RESET

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.

The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.

Zap the PRAM, then try again.

Nope did that twicw as well, I also just tried to wire in one of my external firewire drives, after I plug that cable in that button stays red as well but I see the fw drive on my desktop.

Still no luck with the ethernet as the screenshot is what I see
