It's because you were on the iOS 6 beta, which just expired. You'll need to get the final 6.0 release from the developer iOS portal here and install it manually.
switch off your phone then press home screen and connect to itunes by pressing the home screen
then your itunes will ask you for recovery mode.
follow thye instructions.
or
simply try switching it on in recovery mode. it solved my problem.
>Got the same issue. Trying already for 6 houre's to activate my iphone but i'm still getting the message that the server is busy or not available. They could send us a pushed message or something to warn us 🙂 In my case, I'll just forgot the final date.
Hey, I had the same issue. When I contacted At&t enterprise technical support, they got Apple on the line, who informed me that Apple has disabled certain iPhones from their servers temporarily to fix some iOS6 bugs. Unfortunately he said that restoring it to even the current version of iOS6 in the developer portal would not help as the phone needs to relay to Apples servers to update and verify connection to the celluar network.
He said that they would expect this to last for about 48 hours. They are calling me back this morning to see if it has been resolved. I'd suggest you call your service provider and see what they can do as far as a billing credit.
But that doens't apply to everyone, since i'll bought my iphone directly from the official apple store. I honestly do not see what the point is to contact our provider since the issue is caused by a GM version of iOS. Is the issue solved for you? 🙂
The issue is not solved for me, Apple is going to call me back in 2 hours to follow up with more information. I suggested calling your cellular provider because they will sometimes offer you a credit for the service you are "missing out on" due to this issue.
1. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of iTunes
2. Launch iTunes
3. Connect your iDevice to your computer
4. Select your device in the list on the left side bar of iTunes
5. Select the “Summary” tab in iTunes
6. Hold the Alt-key (Mac)/Shift-key (Win) and click on “Restore”
7. Instead of just restoring, iTunes will show you a dialog box to ask you for the location of the IPSW file that you want to use for restoring your iDevice
8. Select the file you just downloaded and hit the “Choose” button. Beware, some browsers may save the file as a “.zip” file. If this happens, just rename the file, and change the extension to “.ipsw”. This will make the file selectable again in iTunes.
9. Wait for iTunes to restore your device, go drink a coffee, and prepare to enjoy your newly installed iDevice!

This does work as described, however when the phone needs to activate to the cell network it will not as the UDID is disabled from the Apple Server. There is also no way to backup the device before restoring so any changes since last backup will be lost.
What i ended up doing was just going to apple, they plugged it in to their mac and i was out of the store in within 10 min (of course it was around 2pm) . But he said that my problem was that i had the beta version on my phone and it expired, even tho itunes said that i didnt need an update, they ended up restoring my phone. Thanks everyone 🙂
The activation server might be busy. Try later
the same thing just happened to me -_-, i ignored my mothers call and then it rebooted and told me to activate my phone and go to this developer program and set it up
how would i install it manually?
Look at the device in iTunes and option-click "Check for Update". Select the .ipsw file and wait.
i have tried manually, and it tell me theres an error 3194. i have tried by checking for the updat, i have set my phone in recovery mode but when its downloading it says error 3194 😟
