iOS 6 beta 4 expired

I have agree with jkundert on this one; I'm out of suggestions.

As a last check:

1) Verify that you actually have an Iphone 4S

2) Verify that you uare actually in DFU mode (iTunes will tell you recovery mode or the equivalent)

3) Verify that you are actually using the .ipsw for your phone model

Did you option-client the Restore button? Because - in the last 4 or 5 years that has been my final way out of any problem. Iphone's are virtually unbrickable.

1- It is 4S

2- it is in recovery mode, now it is plugged into itunes and only the restore option is available

3- for what everybody tells me it is the right ipsw

About the last option, what is the client restore button ?

I am ready to do anything that solves the problem.

I use iTunes on MacOS and to open the file-dialog box i hold down the ALT-button while left-clicking the restore button (Or the Update-button, which solved my problem without dataloss)

I do not know the Windows-equivalent (Perhaps Shift- or even Alt-left-click).

The "Option-Client" were supposed to be "Option-Click". Sorry about that.

Could you post the contents of /etc/hosts please?

If you google your error message you will find several articles explaning that this has something to do with jailbreaking and changing the contents of the above mentioned filed.

I am still on ios 6 beta 4 🙂.

I have found a method to keep using beta and do an ota without needing to restore with itunes.

If you are at the expiration screen dont worry. Just follow these steps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbD7TuAq83E (not my video). Once you are in just change the date a year back.(then reboot) That is was I did. Then wait for ios 6.0.1 or 6.1 and to a OTA(over the air) update. Sadly the appstore,itunes,imessage,facetime,find my iphone and a couple of other things don't work.😠 But since ios 6 has a lot of bugs I hope the update comes this month. Hope it helped 🙂

Oh I am sorry to here that 😟. If that does not work try doing this combo at the expiration/activation screen.-home button-emergency-dial 112- press power button till slide to power off- tap cancel- tap return to call- then hang up

I have restored - or rather updated - successfully according to my first post, so I have no need for an activation bypass.

I did however try all these suggestions this morning and I can confirm that they did not work for me.

I do not live in the US so unfortunately I cannot go to an apple store.

This is what I get, even when it in in DFU more.

I mean you need to download ios 6 for your device. It has iPhone 4s, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS..etc.

So restoring an iOS 6 final image to a device running an expired iOS 6 beta 4 won't lose any data ?

Did you click the correct button: Check for Update?

Yes, I have tried both of them.

Restore and Check update.

I get the same response.

At this point I don't mind loosing the data, I just want my phone back.

I put the phone into DFU and it happens the same.

It extracts the software and then it says it is not eligible.

Please help !

I know but he is not even a developer and he won't help.

I don't know what to do.
