Q: cannot downgrade my icloud

when I go into my icloud settings on my ipod touch and choose the downgrade to the free plan it does not allow me to SAVE the choice. Anyone know what to do?

    I have the same issue!  I cant downgrade righ now but only the 30 sept 2013...I wish to take the 10GB plan.  I am a bit scared to let this happen by itself the expired date,  as my emails are not saved elsewhere... Somebody knows maybe how can we do this now ?

    You can contact Apple by the phone and they may help you, prepare to verify that you are the account owner.

    BTW, you emails are not saved in your backup. Even if you have icloud mail, they aren't but those count against your storage. For regular emails - backup just saves account settings and emails are later downloaded from corresponding e-mail server.
