My iPod and iPad say I need Activation. Please Help!

My iPad and iPod went nuts and rebooted telling me, "Activation Required" and when trying to activate, it tells me it may take a few minutes. Then says:

Your iPod touch could not be activated

because the activation server is

temporarily unavailable. Try connecting

your iPod touch to iTunes to activate it,

or try again in a couple minutes.

If this problem persists, contact Apple

Support at apple.com/support

This also said this on the iPad but instead of iPod touch it said iPod. PLEASE! ANYONE HELP!

Same issue. There are a few threads starting about this now. Obviously something freaky is going on with apples servers. One of the squirrles maybe died due to the sustained macintosh diet? <shrug>

Im going to try downloading and restoring using a ipsw because regular restore doesn't work

I have the same issue on my iPad. I had the iOS 6 beta installed, and I suspect it's expired and needs updated to the full public release version of iOS 6. I haven't done it yet, but I presume updating the OS will fix the issue. Is that your situation as well?

It's because you were on the iOS 6 beta, which just expired. You'll need to get the final 6.0 release from the developer iOS portal here and install it manually.

Thanks to everyone for the help! Im downloading the ipsw file and manually updating it by option clicking the restore button. is this how i should do this?

I actually option clicked the check for updates button and it upgraded <lateraled?> and kept everything as before.

I'm sure this is the same issue I have with one of my iPods, which has been a brick for some time now. However I can not find how / where exactly to download the iOS 6 now. Details? The link is lost on me, I don't see anything helpful on that page.
