Home sharing not working (iOS 6, iPad 3 and iTunes 10.7)

Trying to stream video from iMac to iPad via home sharing no longer works since iOS 6 upgrade. Video app on iPad sees the library but gets stuck connecting to it. Music app says "unable to turn on home sharing".

I've tried restarting iTunes, turning off home sharing (and on again) and rebooting iPad, all to no avail.

Don't want to go to the trouble of downgrading but need this to work!

Poor form to release broken software after making such a song and dance about how great it would be. (See also: Maps).

I had the exact same problem with the iPad Music app. However, the Remote app works fine:

In the end I downgraded to iTunes 10.6.3, and home sharing is now working again.

Final straw was that 10.7 didn't even recognise my iPad - no syncing or charging possible despite restarts etc. Will think twice about being an early adopter in future!
