enable bonjour on windows vista

Itunes claims Bonjour has been disabled.

I tried to INSTALL IT, but installer claims a newer version is already installed, so...

I try to enable it and there is no on/off option to be found.

HOW do I activate it?

That suggests we might be dealing with a damaged installation. But just in case, let's try enabling the service first.

In your Start menu, right-click "Computer" (or "My Computer" if using XP) and select "Manage".

Expand "Services & Applications".

Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)

Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".

In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Automatic":

User uploaded file

... and click OK.

Restart the PC. Do you still get the message about the service being disabled?
