Question

how to install .mig file from windows to mac

have recently purchased a mac and trying to move .mig file over which I hopefully copied everything from windows based pc

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I think you can't do much with the .mig file on a Mac. That is a migration file created in Windows and you must have Windows to read it back.

That will not work. In order to move data over from a PC to an iMac you should use Apple's "Migration Assistant" tool, which is found in each version of OS X installed on an iMac, to "Import" the PC based data.
