Does iPhone5 support 5GHz band/channels? If it does not support that I cannot use it. My neighbors all interfere on the 2.4GHz channels so I need to use the 5GHz channels to use WiFi on my phone. Home WiFi is getting too popular.

Yes it does. I've got a dual-band router and my iPhone 5 picks up both networks just fine!

How can you tell that it's picking up both?
You just look at the available wifi networks in Settings and see if they both show up. Both of mine do.
I see on my router (D-link DIR-655) that my iPhone 5 is connected at 11g and tt shows my Apple TV at 11n. Looks like the phone has an issue...
