iphone 5 won't ring, only vibrate

This happened to me this week. I finally took phone in to where I got it and the lovely person used compressed air to blow out the headphone jack. Et voila my phone rings. There was lint in the headphone jack hole and the phone thought the headphones were plugged in.

No ringer sound. Headphones work but no sound when in plugged from headset.

Checked all settings silent button , ring volume, do not disturb settings etc etc.

could this just be a bad headphone jack or software related?

Go To Settings > Sounds > Try a ringtone from the list to see if that works. At the top of that list is Vibrate On Ring and Vibrate On Silent. Turn them both off. Im assuming you will have checked the mute switch is off on the side of your phone. Also, Im assuming you will have tried to change the volume: Select a rringtone to try and when it's going, use the up and down keys to change volume. If all of that results in no joy, let me know and I'll come back to you.

Is the sillent switch on the side of the phone on. If so, it will be red. Slide it toward the face of the phone. Or, if there is a moon icon next to time at top of screen, Do Not Disturb might be turned on in settings.
