setting up iPhone 5 with iTunes - current iTunes version does not recognize iPhone 5 and does not allow setup

I just received the new iPhone 5. I checked iTunes for latest version of software and got confirmation that I had the latest (10.6.3) installed on my Mac. I then connected the new iPhone. I got a message that the iPhone5 uses a version of iTunes (10.7) that I don't have. The current iTunes on my computer does not recognize my phone and therefore I cannot sync it and complete the phone set-up.

I welcome any suggestions or help on this matter.

Thanks!

On my Win 7 PC, I have iTunes 10.7.0.21. I'd updated it just a few days before I got my iPhone 5. iTunes recognized the new iPhone, asked me if I wanted to restore to a previous backup, I picked from one of the several backups I had (we have 3 iPhones in our family, and several more iPods), and the new phone was fully restored with all my contacts, calendars, music, books, podcasts, etc. I was very impressed with the process. Hope you get yours working soon. 🙂
