Q: can not open imac to use keyboard

Bluetooth devices may only be paired with one thing at a time. You will need to unpair it from the phone (I do not have an iPhone) before it will pair with the computer. I think I read someplace that it will work if you turn the phone off, restart the computer, and let it find the KB.

Oct 2, 2012 7:26 AMby manab63,Thank you for this info. However, the problem existed prior to pairing with iPhone. I paired with iPhone to check if there is a problem with the keyboard. It turns out that the issue may lie with bluetooth in iMac not the keyboard or mouse. Thanks again and I shall keep your recommendation in mind.

The SMC reset "usually" solves missing Bluetooth problems.
My own system is set to automatically log in as I am the only user.
Hopefully you will be able to borrow a wired KB as opposed to buying one.
Without being able to log in, I cannot think of anything else to try.

Oct 9, 2012 2:39 AMby manab63,Tried a complete shut down by removing the electic plug, a USB Keyboard and a USB mouse, both are not working. The Mac just refuses to recognize the devices both wireless and wired. In the meantime, I have been stuck with a dead Mac that requests the password to open up and I am unable to key-in.
Can anybody help please?
