What icon are you expecting and where?  It sounds like you want to use AppleTV as a source for content which you can not do.  The new ATV's have no content on them any more.  They stream everything from either a local iMac/MacBook or iCloud.  If you want to access content you need to conect to one of those.

If your phone can not connect to your iMac or your ATV than this issue is likely with the phone so this question would need to be posted in the iPhone fourm.

As I said you can not use the ATV as a source to stream content from.  It has no content to stream.
