What's the keyboard shortcut for Sleep without the Eject key?

On the new Retina MacBook Pro there is no optical drive, thus no Eject key, therefore the keyboard shortcut for Sleep mode is impossible. Is there a new shortcut for keyboards without Eject keys to put it to Sleep?

Mousing up to the menu is such a pain…😉

Press the power button and then the S key. The press of the power button will bring up a windows that has 4 options. One of them Sleep. pressiing the S key set the system to sleep.

No reason to feel silly. Most people don't know about it. Most knowledgeable Mac people usually post back that Pressing the power button is not the way to shut down the computer but what they are thinking is to Press and Hold down the power button which will send a signal to the logic power to CUT the Power and they are right. Only do that when the system will not respond.

Just a press on the power button, Not a Press and Hold, is completely OK and the Window that comes up has all the option you need for Sleeping, Restarting and shutting down properly.

You are Welcome. Glad I could help.
