ical invite via:sms or text?

Any way to send an invite as a text instead of email. Kids these days don't use email. I would like to remind my daughter of appointments or various tasks. I can send her a text through email, i.e. " phonenumber@txt.att.net", but I'm not sure if iCal supports it.
