How can I upgrade FCP6 to FCP7?

I have the full Final Cut Studio 2 but don't really need anything other than FCP7. Can anyone help? Most advice seems to be to buy Final Cut Studio 3, remove all the software and reinstall..

Final Cut Pro 7, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Buy Final Cut Studio 3 (which has FCP 7)...best bet for finding that is on ebay, as Apple discontinued that 16 months ago. And then don't uninstall...best to back up the drive (better yet, CLONE it using Carbon Copy Cloner) and then erasing it, installing the OS fresh, then all your apps. Anything less and you risk it not working properly.

Sure, you can install on top of FCP 6. and most of the time it works fine. But there are times it doesn't. Just saying.
