screen went black and nothing will turn it on

The screen on my iPhone 4S went black this morning after a call and will not turn back on. I know the phone is charged and on because I can hear every text, email, reminder, etc that comes through but the screen is completely black. I've tried powering it off and back on, only know that happens because it vibrates. I've also tried a hard reset; home & off button simultaneously. I know it comes back on because the long press to get Siri gives me the usual ding. However, Siri doesn't respond to anything I say and the end ding seems to come more quickly.

I'm eligible for an upgrade on my phone and have insurance, but just found out it's a $199 deductible through Verizon's carrier! NOT happy about that since I've been paying $12/month for insurance for 15+ months!

Any ideas??? Help please!
