Q: iPhoto 11 lost all my pics

Help Help Help, I installed iPhoto 11 (version 9.4.1) today and now I can't recover my photos. They are still on the harddrive because I also use Picasa. I am getting more and more frustrated with this Mac thing.

Thanks for any help offered.

We'll need a bit more to work with than "now I can't recover my photos"

my issue is that it will show the key photo for some events and only that photo when i enter said event. however, if i try to open any of the pictures i get the triangle with the ! in it. If i open an old library all is well, unfortunately it isn;t current. i used the library manager and tried to make a new one based off of the old library and it said it cannot be found. (its there, i can see it) Help!

it being the iphoto library manager... i don't think it has to do with itunes like the other posts state, i don't have any slide shows associated with music.

I can see all my events with the proper labels but there are no pics at all. I have tried holding down Command and Option and have ran all the choices with no luck. I did have trouble downloading it so I am not sure if the iphoto is corrupt or not. If you can tell me how to take a screen capture I will send one to you so you can see what I am talking about.

    Thanks

    Anthony

im the same way, except i can see the key photo. If i open an event, i will only see the key photo, if i try to open any of the photos, (which are black) i will get the triangle with the ! in it. At the bottom however, i do see my photos in the slider if you will. if i try to open one of those i get the same results.

i will get the triangle with the ! in it.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.

    Option 1

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.

    If that fails:

    Option 2

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)

This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Regards
