MacKeeper? What is that? REAL Review...

There have been quite a lot of rumors about MacKeeper in plenty of point of views.

(MacKeeper: a pop up ad that often comes up in non-protected websites, or could even pop up randomly. It is also an app you can download on "zeobit" its known to "clean your Mac")

I was on a website when an un-exitable ad came up that said "MacKeeper" and the only option was to "clean my mac" My first reaction was, there is no darn way I'm trusting that!

I was able to exit it by forcing Safari to stop a number of times, fortunately my internet browser got fed up and eventually closed it down. Keep in mind that I wasn't able to exit out of Safari normally, or even turn off my computer!

If this happened to any of you, I bet you were kind of creeped yet curious. This is the truth about MacKeeper, I did research on it plus visited an Apple Genius.

MacKeeper is a scandle. You can either get the "30 day trial" or actually buy the package. The MacKeeper website states that it "cleans your Mac" If you download it, it will darn right clean your MacBook... COMPLETELY.

The Apple genius told me that MacKeeper wasn't a virus, it was a pop-up add. An annoying one indeed. It CANNOT download itself to your computer unless you let it! Honestly, don't be stupid and download MacKeeper...

As you may of seen on YouTube there are a lot of movies promoting the MacKeeper. But have you seen one negative one? No. MacKeeper is also fond of FALSE advertising! If you want any cleaning facitilies, I reccomend going to Apples App store and downloading one. I also reccomend not jailbreaking your MacBook... By jailbreaking it, you're increasing your chances to getting viruses.

There has also been complaints about MacKeeper as pop-up adds and people complaing about MacKeeper downloading itself to your computer. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. MacKeeper CANNOT download itself to your computer, its not a virus!!! It becomes a virus when you actually purposely download it, which I HIGHLY reccomend not doing.

The whole key to this MacKeeper crap is ZeoBit is hoping that people will give into their annoying adds and eventually download MacKeeper hoping the ads will go away.

If you were too lazy to read this, just remember, DO NOT INTENTIONALLY DOWNLOAD MACKEEPER.

MacKeeper keeps coming up on YouTube. Having read about it being malware, I'm now concerned as I accidentally clicked on the word "MacKeeper" and opened their website. Although I closed it immediately and have not downloaded it, I am seriously worried that this action may have been enough to give MacKeeper access to my Mac laptop.

No, that did not happen. The reason its advertisements keep reappearing on websites you visit is probably that the marketing service used by MacKeeper deposited a "cookie" on your system upon visiting their website. It's one of many intrusive and annoying marketing tactics used by MK.

To get rid of them in Safari, go to Safari's Preferences > Privacy tab, and either click the Details... button to delete individual cookies, or just click the button Remove All Website Data... to delete all of them.

I'm a 60 something small business owner. I use a 8 year old Macbook Pro. I use QB Pro for Mac for my business. My Mac was a mess. It really got worse when I downloaded Yosemite.

I called a few other old boys I know and I bought Mackeeper, pretty much based on the contents of this email below I received from my friend who has MacKeeper, and also is not a Mac Geek like me. This laptop is nothing other than a tool to me.

Email from Jack B in Port Townsend:

How I was encouraged to buy Mackeeper was because Sam who sits in that noodle joint half the day on his laptop the local geek told me that there was all sorts of cheap and even free software that I could download in order to keep my Mac running good.

I told Sam that I was pretty much an idiot when it came to using all the "stuff" be it freeware or not in order to keep my Mac running properly. I told him I would appreciate it if there were just a one stop software and service, because i cannot be bothered with learning "Mac Talk" in order to keep my Mac in good shape. That is when he suggested Mackeeper. He said they had a cut throat, not so nice marketing style but that it was in fact a one stop shop, and that they even have on line chat with their service if a guy really got in a jam.

He then said that Mackeeper was for people like me. People who cannot be bothered with making a hobby out of running a Mac, or looking for freeware and cheaperware (than Mackeeper) in order to save a buck. And that is why I went with them. It's a 100% money back guarantee, so I'll try is a few months and see what happens

So... This is why I'm trying it too. So far so good. The first thing they did was to take over my laptop operation and I sat back and watched my screen whilst some tech person went about doing all sorts of things. After that my Mac works like i remember it working. so far so, good

So, you are stating that Mackeeper is a scam and is stealing?

Do you have absolute proof of this?

The reason I'm asking is that when I started my business over here in Port Townsend, WA USA back in 92', a local competitor was none too happy that I had set up business in "his" town. As a result he not only committed libel, but I was also was successful in my law suit against him for defamation of character.

Now, please do not get me wrong as I'm not here to defend Mackeeper, but I do get a little concerned based on my own life experience that if one does not have actual proof of such crimes, it does not lend any credibility to your accusations, and it is just pure falsehood on your part.

I get the part about their, not so ethical marketing, and such, But you and others however have stepped over a sort of line and are accusing them of breaking the law.

If you know of such crimes then please if you will, cite them herein, and I will use such information to my advantage with Maskeeper.

Thank you
