Why won't my pages document send as an attachment to an email?

Please help! My pages document will not send as an attachment. When this happened before the tech. said to make a new document and not to use copy and paste. I have rewritten and made an entirely new document, but it still will not allow an attachment to an email, as when I hit "Share" - "Send via Mail" - "PDF". The customary email and attachment drop down window does not come up.This keeps happening and it is urgent and very important that I send this attachment. What is the problem? Please help as I am desperate.

Thanks,

Barbara

Thank you, but I tried another way by opening a new email and attaching the document from Finder. I'll know if it worked when I hear from the recipient-although when I Cc'd to myself it seemed to work.

Thanks again,

Barbara

PS this is my first time with this system and I didn't notice the "reply" to message before and responded to others through my email. I think this is the way one is supposed to reply, yes?

This usually is caused by having an "illegal" character in the file name. Try renaming your document using only letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores & spaces. You could also export the Pages file as a PDF & then attach that to a new e-mail message. But, unless you're only sending to Mac users, your recipients may have issues.

Here's a thought. I just dragged a text-file onto an empty Pages document.

Then, I chose Share > Send Via Email > PDF.

Mail opened in a compose window with the text revealed.

I clicked once on the text to select it.

Then, a right-button click on that text.

From the pop-up menu, I chose View as Icon.

The displayed text now transitioned to a familiar iconified PDF file attachment.

You will need to verify that you have done the following before the above will work.

Open Mail.

Select Compose.

Choose the “paperclip” attachment icon.

Ensure that you have, “Send Windows-Friendly Attachments” checked.

Exit the compose window.

Exit mail.

Thank you for your response, but I think it's a bit too complicated for me, although I'm sure it would work. I decided to open a new email first and attach the file from Finder. That seemed to work, but I still don't understand what the problem is with some documents that won't attach by use of "Share" and some will.

Thanks again,

Barbara

PS-I hope this message gets to you as this is my first time; I tried by email but that didn't work-hope this does.

Thanks.

Thank you for your suggestion, but that didn't seem to be the issue. I decided to open a new email and attach the file from Finder; I think it worked & will know when I get a reponse from recipient.

I still don't know why some documents can be attached by "Share" and some cannot.

I hope this response gets to you, as this is my first time using this system & I'm not sure I'm doing it right.

Thank you again,

Barbara
