i know this is truly unbelievable, the ipod touch 5 is released but not released? this really does not make any sense at all. at least they can tell tell us what date in october we can wait for, they revealed the ipod close to a month ago know and still no freaken date. CMON...

how can you preorder something without a specific date when it will actually ship? for all we know they might shipping october next year 2013?

Seriously, just stop and think about this for a minute.

There are probably millions of people waiting for this new toy to ship. Apple knows this. What you don't realize is it takes time to make these things. It takes even more time to get them to the US (After all they are made in China by Foxconn...). Then it takes time to get them through Customs, and onto trucks for delivery to distribution centers, and then from there they go to shippers like UPS and FedEx, and another batch goes to Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and who ever else sells the silly things.

And here's another point: If you ran Apple, would you make a promise that you knew you couldn't keep? That's why Apple said October and didn't give a definate date. And to prove it, go back and look at your post. How does it feel to be a poster child for SAU (Spoiled Apple Users)?

Hi, as to your shipping timeline for an iPod. I've ordered several engraved iPods over the years. By the time I lift my finger from the SEND key the device is in Anchorage. Getting an iPod to the customer is not tricky.

This is a new device. Not yet released. Not yet released is the issue. Preorders are common for new Apple products.

Pre-orders are a common practice for a lot of things. Case in point: Recently Meade Instruments (http://www.meade.com/) anounced two new items, the LX80 and LX800 telescope systems, and promptly started taking pre-orders. After a considerable wait, units started arriving and that's when the fun started... Needless to say, Meade is really taking it on the chin, and I have a funny feeling Apple will be doing the same over iOS6.

The real issue is all about the hype. Meade hyped their new products, people fell all over themselves to pre-order, and when the units showed up they went right back. iOS 6 is no different. Apple pulled the trigger way too early, and the proof is right here in the posts to this community. Add to that the moaning over 5th gen ship dates, and you have all the makings of a classic Greek Tragedy.

Previously Apple had pre release forums for new products. They were kinda fun. We could fantasize and ask questions that we knw no one could answer. I diet coke works just ws well 😉
