I want to load Windows 7 on my iMac 24inch but don't know if I can purchase an OEM version of Windows 7 for this prpose.  Will an OEM version work?

Thanks,

John

Yes as long as the OEM version is not branded to a specific manufacturer such as Dell, HP, etc. Make sure you get the generic OEM version not one that comes with a Windows PC.

    Bob,

I thought I got a generic verison of the OEM but when I try to load the software the first thing it asks is "What ROM Drive I want to use".  I can't answer the question with the 1 or 2 because my keyboard input doesn't work.  Is this something you ran into when loading your OEM?

    Thanks,

    John

If this is the OEM-license, then there shouldn't be any problems with it.

All though, IF it's a OEM-license AND you update Bootcamp THEN you need to activate the Windows again AND you need to do that over the phone.

diff between the oem and retail versions is that the oem tie to the hardware so you can't if your computer dies just install it on a new one unless you call microsoft and say please and they feel like being good guy ms
