OS X 10.8.2 Battery problems

I waited with ML update until the newest release believing the battery problem was solved. Well, it wasn't. Battery span has dropped abt. 25%. I have reset PRAM and SMC, drained the battery completely and then fully charged it again. All in vain. Anyone got the same problem?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You need to do the clean install it will solve your issue and AppleCare technical advisor told me that the issue will be cleared when you do the clean install.

I'm sure the technical advisor was right, also the battery life for me it has been resolve in case but it's not good as in Mountain Lion as because i can only use the laptop for 5 hours and on Lion i can use for 7 hours so it's the big difference.

I still think Apple is working hard to solve this case for many of other users and this issue has caused major numbers of MacBook Pros and Air owners and its not just us it's thousands/millions of users but still Apple isn't mention this issue 😟

Make sure to take Backup before doing the clean install but please remember don't restore all of the app at once just restore the files and app one by one without using the migration assistant.

Is it proven that a clean installation will help?

Yes, It will help. But it won't be good as in Lion it will be better for now and the battery life won't drop faster after the clean installation.

I have done with Clean Installation and i have solved my battery issue earlier upgrade from Lion the battery life was draining faster every 1% per minute of use it's dropping and now it's fine after the clean install, I hope this case will be helpful.

But be sure to take backup of your Hard Drive before doing the clean install and after the clean install don't restore all of the files at once just re-download the apps and restore your documents.

PS: Clean install is fresh version of Mountain Lion and it will also delete all of your files and apps even the hard drive is completely empty and you have to install Mountain Lion on the fresh version and you may avoid the issues that you had in Lion.

This didn't help me:-( I just installed Mountain Lion a clean installation.... I took me hours to do this with no better results:-(

Well, Try to do SMC Reset than PRAM Reset the battery will get 4 hours real time use and i notice it's not good as in Lion but it won't drain faster if you do the two resets here is there below links

This one PRAM Reset

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

This one SMC Reset

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Please remember you won't able to get good result like the one in Lion as this OS is still not fixed properly for the portable device, You may only get 3-4 hours of real time use after resetting SMC and PRAM.

I have also contacted AppleCare they mentioned the same thing that i said including Clean Installation, Resets etc but the result of the battery returned to normal but not good as in Lion and we'll have to wait and see what is Apple doing on 10.8.3 if it's fixed than you should upgrade your OS to the latest version at least i'm not sure if Apple is still mentioning this case or not as i didn't hear any words from them and they're saying that they didn't have any issue that's relating to Mountain Lion using Portable Mac devices and this issue affected thousands of users across the world.

I'm on the same side as you and i have nothing more to help to resolve this case and this is issue with OS. Hopefully Apple will start mentioning this issue 😉
