    Hi everyone.

Well, my Music App behaved for a week, Since the update to 6.1.2, I had my music app open and left it open even when I turned the phone off, before the phone switched off each night I checked the track number and low and behold the same track started the next day. Then last night I opened the App from memory and right before my eyes it jumped from the track playing when I got home to playlist page!! Subsequently there was no 'Now Playing' button so there was no option but to start from track 1 of my playlist.

So it's back to opening and closing the app when I listen to music as for me that has been the most successful workaround.

For any of you having the WiFi issue, I have discovered that 6.1.2 broke the DHCP Client on the phone, I have had to put a static IP on my phone for the WiFi, thankfully that has stayed registered on the phone, but I guess it's fairly straight forward to add an IP as and when I need Internet (if it started to fail)

What I find strange about all these issues, having spoken to various other iPhone users (sorry to those having the problem with iPods, but I don't know anyone that uses one), the problems seem to be random, the WiFi issue apparently has been there since iOS 5 along with battery issues caused by Exchange, yet I didn't get hit by WiFi until 6.1.2, the Music App is working for some but not all (I know 2 people on latest version that have never had the problem), to my knowledge I am the only one that has the volume issue and the music app not loading into memory by press play on my BT device (at least the only one contributing to this discussion).

I may reset my phone back to factory this weekend to see if that resolves any problems, but it may be a little bit easier to understand why Apple seem to be struggling to fix the issues with it being so random.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending their actions or lack of, but I do understand the difficulties of diagnosing and fixing random issues.

Still I have workarounds, not ideal but will keep checking and maybe by iOS 10 or iPhone8 they might have everything working.

I can't believe this is still an issue. What the heck apple? I'm ready to try a third party app or switch to Spotify or Amazon's cloud player.

    Hey guys;

I just got off of the phone with Apple support and they have not experienced this issue before. I'm guessing that despite all of the people with this problem, no one has called Apple?

Regardless, I have a solution that they gave me and seems to have worked (so far). They said to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. You will not loose any data, but you will have to reenter any Wi-Fi codes, keyboards, wallpaper, passcodes, etc. that you have configured.

    Hope this helps!

Apple had me try that - didn't work.  Nor did a full reset.

I've actually had 2 of these devices and both have had this issue.

I have an open case with Apple on this.

Have the same issue on my iPod Touch 4 6.1.2. Hope that it will be fixed in the next updated. But now this issue is so annoying! Arrrrrrrgh!

Any followup from Samwise on whether this continues to solve the problem? I don't want to go through the hassle of resetting my phone if it's not an actual solution, but I'll give it a try if at least someone has success with it...

I am just going to add that i am having this problem as well.  iPhone 4S with iOS version 6.1.2.  Posted feedback on the above mentioned form.

Alright...well for about 2 weeks I've been having success with resuming at the song that it was paused at.  What have I been doing?  Well that's my little secret.....haha...I'll share --- I unlock the device, go to Music, and pause it there.  When I'm ready to resume, I unlock the device again, go to Music, and voila, it works!

IF I double click the home button and pause and/or resume from that shortcut, then most of the time it won't resume properly.

This is an annoying workaround, but it is one none the less.

Yep. I've had the same problem. Very annoying. Yesterday morning, I hit shuffle on one of my playlists. First song up was 'Magnificent Seven' by The Clash. Played that song and about 3 or 4 more. After lunch, put headphones on to listen to music while working. First song up? 'Magnificent Seven'. Hit next until I got to where I wanted to be. Listened to a few more songs. When I left work, I fired up my music again. What song came up? 'Magnificent Seven'. I love the song, but jeez. Never had this problem before. In fact, a few years ago, I played every song I liked in alphabetical order and never had this problem.

    Apple's quality is falling fast.

Just throwing up my hand to say "me, too!" on this. Same things... restarts several songs back and/or starts on right song but at the beginning. I've seen people mentioning similar behavior with audiobooks.

I'm having a strange shuffle problem as well. iPhone 4, latest iOS. I have more than 600 songs on my iPod and no matter where I start the shuffle round, it ALWAYS restarts the shuffle playlist after exactly 12 songs. So everytime I start a new shuffle round, after 12 tracks I'm getting the same 12 tracks again.

Anybody experiencing the same? It keeps happening after resynching, even if I added songs or took some out.

"Latest iOS" meaning 6.1.3, or the previous one?

  • DanysNet Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yes the very latest, updated yesterday. But the problem already existed before that update.

  • CHiKouNe Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I'm not going to be upgrading to 6.1.3 for a while, as it probably requires a lot of free space and I need to do a backup before I start deleting apps. Has anyone upgraded? Does the problem still exist?

  • pmiranda Level 1 Level 1 (5 points)

I just upgraded to 6.1.3 this morning so I'll see how it does. Didn't really require any extra space as far as I could tell.

I notice that even across the upgrade and reboot it remembered where I was in the playlist :-)

Now for something hard like seeing if it can keep track of my place overnight...
