Q: Why does my idisk still mount if mobile.me is closed?

If Mobile.me closed two months ago, why does my idisk still mount on my desktop and still appear to have all files intact?

I can't stop it from mounting, since there is no longer a system preference pane for Mobile.me.

Any solutions?

The mounted iDisk you see is sourced from a 'sparseimage' file in (user)/Library/Filesync. It contains a copy of the contents of your iDisk at the time of the last sync - obviously no syncing has been taking place since 1 July.

If you remove this image it may put a stop to this, but it could also produce error messages as the system tries to mount it.

Try going to (user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and removing any .plist files which begin with com.apple.DotMac or com.apple.idisk.

Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.
