dropped my ipad in water, help

yes i did it. dont even ask! i dried it best as, this has happened within the hour. As yet it will not switch on and i dare not charge it.

what should i do and not do? quick help needed!

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6, was in water for about 5secs.

Do not try to turn it on. Put it in a container of dry rice. Leave it there for 4-5 days. Be patient. After that, plug it in, charge it, then try to turn it on. You may get lucky.

Devices have survived. Theoretically, they run on flash memory, and you can literally wash flash drives and they still work. I've done it. The water doesn't as much damage the device itself as it causes damage by way of short circuits as drops of water causes the power in the device to arc where it's not supposed to be, shorting things out. Hence why you don't turn it on, dont' charge it, keep it as inactive as possible.


Let it sit in the dry rice for days as suggested. Rice is a natural dessicant....as in dries stuff out and absorbes moisture - why you see restaurants using it in their salt shakers to keep the humidity from caking the salt.


THere have been peopel on this forum that have reported the rice working. At this point you have nothing to lose really. A chance is better than no chance.
