Up until recently, my iPhone 4s would tell me I missed a call or that I have a voicemail by showing a number in a red circle on my Phone icon.
But now, that no longer works. Any ideas what could be causing this?

How do you know it doesn't work?
Did you receive a miss call?
I tested this by calling my iPhone from another phone and I just let my iPhone ring.
I just resolved it by going to Settings, Notifications, Phone and found that my "Badge App Icon" was set to off.
I blame my 2 year old.
Set "Badge App Icon" to On and this resovled the issue.
