Anyone having problems with their phones after i06 update?

Since the new i06 download on my iphone 4, I don't get sound notifications for texts & emails when my phone is in lock screen position. Has anyone else had this problem? Help!

Wow, gdgmaguy and Lawrence Finch, you must be in a special bubble to be so fortunate. I have spent the last week in every forum, discussion, group, blog, tech support site et al researching the ruinous price paid by thousands of iPhone 4 owners as a direct result of upgrading to iOS 6. Issues ranging from 'I am missing a few contacts since the upgrade' to 'All contacts, notes, reminders and years worth of texts vanished when I upgraded' and it just gets worse. There are multitudes of iP4's that are stuck in a boot loop, have no carrier or wifi signals, unrecognized by iTunes, or have turned into complete bricks and the list goes on and on. And in all of the discussions no one has provided a consistent resolution, and all of the complaints stem from this upgrade. Hard resets have worked for a few, restoring for a couple others, some are resorting to more complicated procedures as offered up by various iOS expert/know-it-alls with very few successes. Conspicuously absent are any actual Apple reps chiming in except for a few posts with links inserted saying, try this...and good luck. These links direct you to the same step by step instructions that the know-it-alls provide with the same **** poor results. This is a sad time indeed and the powers that be at Apple, the provider of the most expensive personal electronic devices on the market with what has been until now a reputation of exceptional quality and design, need to be held accountable for this astonishing fail. All around the world since the iOS 6 upgrade, Apple consumers have been wronged by this subpar release. Shame on them.

There are 250 million iPhone users, and according to Apple, half have updated. If there were a major problem you would see millions of complaints, not hundreds or thousands. For the most part it is only people with problems who go to Apple forums or other discussion sites. And a few crazy people like gdgmacguy or stevejobsfan123 who put up with endless abuse from people like you in the hope that their experience and expertise will help someone resolve a problem.

And if you did a little research rather than just blathering you would see that posts almost identical to yours have been posted here after every new Apple product, every major and minor iOS update, and randomly in between. Every software release has been called "subpar" by someone. And every product release also. You are not the first. And you won't be the last.

If you then go to Android forums you would see exactly the same thing. Or Nokia forums. Or Blackberry forums. Or the forums for any computer manufacturer. Support forums are for people who need help. Those who don't need help and who have no problems don't generally visit. Which is why you haven't seen 124.999 million posts saying "I have no problems with iOS 6."

People who come here with a problem and describe the problem without being abusive or ranting will usually get advice that will help them.

BTW, there are NO Apple reps chiming in. This is a user to user forum. Apple does not post responses in it, and does not read it.

This forum is only one of many that I've immersed myself into. I started at an actual Apple Store, having multiple discussions that circled around all the steps taken to resolve to no avail, followed by genius attempts at the same methods still to no avail ( but with a lot less condescension I'm encountering at these user to user online communities ) followed by some head scratching and mumbles of huh, never seen this or murmurs that it could be specific to my device and when I inquired about iOS 6 issues in general that Ive seen and read about I'm informed that information they could provide must be specific to my phone only and they would be happy to help the owners experiencing these problems but they would have to bring in their device in person. It ended each time with a smile and 'Wish we could've resolved this, would I like to trade in for a new or refurb phone? I've scheduled and participated in two calls with Apple Support and have a third scheduled for Thursday, but these techs also have their hands tied to answering or troubleshooting the issues specific to my phone and can't or won't confirm or even acknowledge that all these phones have various failures due to an upgrade that should've gone through further testing and development instead of pushed through to coincide with the release of the 5. Which, by the way, I have heard nothing in the way of any issues like the 4 phones are experiencing. Just calling it like I'm seeing it. And if you think my earlier post falls into the 'endless abuse' category, then you do indeed reside in a narrow bubble.

Oh, and in response to stevejobsfan0123, I have discovered that 'user error' seems to be the pat answer used by most of you user forum experts when confronted with your inability to provide actual help when all your standard, failsafe methods that are posted ad infinitum don't produce results.

Hi,

There is some users with your issue.

The solution that I saw that had fix their phones is simple in fact.

Have you try to download the update in iTunes to your computer?

Not just the update but the full download for full upgrade of your phone.

The steps was download the full ios 6 and then full backup your iphone to icloud, with the ios 6 file in your computer upgrade the phone, don't use the iCloud restore after update just check your phone if is okay, if its proceed to iCloud restore.

If you need more info just say.

Hope this had help.

Best regards

Paul
