iPhone iOS 6 upgrade - no call waiting

After upgrading my wife's 4S to iOS 6 she can no longer answer any call waiting calls. If she is on a call, she can (only sometimes) hear a beep that another call is trying to come through, but nothing shows up on the caller ID and there are no options to switch or ignore the call. The call doesn't even show up in the call log.

I upgraded my 4S and I do still see call waiting options, but they don't show up on her phone.

Any ideas?

Also, I checked, and under Settings-->Phone there are no longer any options for Call Waiting or Call Forwarding options. They are not present on mine either, but my call waiting still works and hers doesn't.

This is a huge issue in my opinion as mine is doing the same thing. Apparently you have to backup the iPhone through iTunes plugged into your PC/Mac and then restore it to factory settings...which is ridiculous. I am still waiting for a reply to see if there's another way to do it without deleting everything off of my phone but so far no response.

Actually, try just shutting your phone off and leave it off for 2 minutes. I tried this with my wife's phone again, and now call waiting works. The options for Call Waiting are still not there under settings, but at least it is working.

I have seen other posts where this works for people too. Sometimes the issue comes back, but if they turn off the phone again, it starts working. It might be at least a stopgap option until they patch it.

Try a combination of closing the app and rebooting the phone:

Double click the home button to see open apps at bottom. Tap and hold any of them till they wiggle. Tap the little red circle at top of Phone app to close it.

Press and hold both the power button and the home button until the screen goes black and the apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" message. Let go when you see the apple logo.

I had this issue to. Back up all of your information either thru cloud or the computer or whatever you are going to do ok. now... go to settings>general>reset> reset all settings

Yes its a factory reset but for some reason going straight from the factory settings to the new upgrade works. Going from one of the older versions closer to the newest doesnt really do it for whatever reason. I get incoming calls and call waiting calls all the time so long as my ringer is up and I am paying attention to the phone.

Hope this helps

Lisa

PS please make sure you restore the info to your phone AFTER you upgrade the blessed thing.... Good Luck
