Probs downloading any version of iTunes (Windows 7)

Background: I had probs with my DVD drive not working, so had to make changes to the registry, thats all working now. iTunes stopped working (I was warned that that might occur). Itunes suggested that I uninstall and reinstall. I have successfully uninstalled.

I am unable to reinstall.

1. When I downloaded and tried to run this version of itunes:
http://www.apple.com/au/itunes/download/
I got the error msg as discussed '"The configuration data for this product is corrupt." and itunes would not run/install at all.

I tried something else, I downloaded and run a version of itunes that was specifically for Windows 7:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427
This DID install and looked all normal.
However, when I went to open it it said "The file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes" and wont open.

Any ideas..................am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😐

Thanks in advance for any help 🙂
