years worth of episodes unable to delete

I've switched to iOS6 and the new podcast app. Now I have hundreds of old podcasts that I can't get rid of. I've manually deleted old ones to have them show up again. I've manually changed to "mark as read" but they don't go away. I've changed my preferences to "keep only x episodes." I can't find episodes I've paused in the middle of. I have to scroll through the episodes over and over. ARGH!!!!!
