SMB group permissions not being set (ACL is enabled)

I have a share on my Lion server that I have enabled SMB access. When an SMB user uploads a file to that server, only the user who uploaded the file has access to it. A Lion web server is using that share, so I want users to be able to drop a file there and have it appear on the site.

I've seen the article that tells you to run:

"sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.smb.server AclsEnabled -bool YES"

And this is set.

$ defaults read /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.smb.server AclsEnabled

So why is this not working? I know a chmod will work, but I need this to work automatically. AFP users do not have this issue.
