Q: calendar first and second alerts switch on their own

Hi, I've been having this problem for a while with my iPhone 4, wondering if anyone can help.

I've tried looking if there's already a thread for this issue, but couldn't find one -- maybe I'm just not using the correct keywords.

Every time I set my first and second alerts on my calendar appointment and saved them, they seem okay, but 2 minutes later when I go back to the same appointment, the first and second alerts switch on their own, e.g.: I set first alert to go on 2 hours before and second alert to go on 1 hour before the appointment. Save. When I return 2 minutes later, first alert turned to 1 hour before and second alert 2 hours before.

Which is silly, since who needs their second alert to be farther than their actual appointment? Even iphone knows this and cancels the second alert altogether. By the time I've been alerted, I only have an hour to get ready for my next appointment.

Anyone has encoutered this problem and has successfully solved them? I've tried setting my default time zone under setting to local, and even turning off iCloud, to no success.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you Collectorofheadaches.  Up until the IOS 9.0 operating system was released, I could keep playing with mine and could finally get it to be correct.  I was at Apple today and they couldn't help.  They had me download 9.0.1 iOS which was released very recently, said it would correct it.  NOT!  I don't understand why it's not happening on everyone's iPhone, it seems as if it's random.  We have 5 iPhones in my family and I'm the only one with the issue.  Our settings are all the same.  It's ridiculous. It's important and beyond any comprehension why it can't be fix.

I always had this problem, but iOS 9 made it worse.  Before I was able to fix it (after several tries), that is set the first alert before the second. Now I am not able to fix it. It stubbornly wants the first alert after the second!  If I try too many times, it sets them to the same time.

The only way I can have two alerts is create a duplicate appointments, one alert each.

They do have the manpower, but they choose to waste it on stupid new emoji that nobody and other "improvements" that end up breaking stuff

I found the they named these incorrectly. You cannot have the second alert after the first one.Think about this:

First Alert is when you wan the alert shows up.
Second Alert is read like: "Hey do you want to have another alert earlier than the first one".

Does not make sense what they names it Second when it really comes first.

They need to call it "Earlier Alert than First Alert". Try to set the second alert ahead of the first one and see the issue or not.
    Thanks

I just updated to the latest iOS version 9.2 and just noticed the issue with the calendar reminders.

The problem now seems to be that after I set the second reminder the first reminder changes into the first reminder. Then when trying to correct the first reminder the second reminder changes into the first reminder.

Looks like since Steve Jobs is not there anymore everything goes downhill at Apple ...

Now it is January 2016 and I just tried to edit my alerts for an event with a week and a day before alert and it will only set the alerts to the exact same time ie: two 30 minutes before or two 2 hours before... this is ridiculous- Apple programmers should have fixed this issue a long time ago, I won't even get started with the green dot in all my photos I take when facing the sun directly with my iphone 6 plus... ugh.

So I tried reversing the alerts and now the iphone 6 plus has decided to set the two different alerts THE SAME ie: now I have 2 alerts for a day before... instead of one alert for the day before and one alert for 2 hours before. It doesn't seem to have any real logic in setting the alerts just seems to randomly set whatever combination of alerts it feels like. I have seen and experienced this issue all the back to an iphone 4. Just saying it might be better to use a different calendar app altogether because no one apparently has time to fix the iphone calendar must be too busy making new unfunctional products that can perpetuate the old lingering issues. How nice.

I've tried all the suggested "fixes" posted here and on other threads to no avail.  I can deal with most bugs and other issues, but this alert switch burns me up...it's been a problem for far to long now...I too have been dealing with this problem for 3 years!  I don't get why its not a priority fix?  Does this bug not affect the devices of Apple employees?  The customer service response regarding this problem is jaw-dropping and unacceptable, Apple should be ashamed!

And I get we're all trying to figure it out, but the second alert is not actually the first alert, second comes first, always!  And this theory doesn't jive if you set a "travel time" to your event because the second alert offers a "time to leave" option where the first alert does not.  Regardless, IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED, we shouldn't have to trick the alerts to work.

I Tried entering in reverse and it stays reverse. So basically when I enter it correctly it reverses. When I enter them  reverse it stays that way. Now how is that??? The alert system is seriously messed up. I currently am updated at iOS 9.2.1
