Hard drive won't go to sleep

My iMac running 10.7.5 is set to go to sleep (both hard drive and monitor) after 15 minutes.

The monitor will go to sleep, but the hard drive won't.

However, when I manually put the computer to sleep, through Apple menu... Sleep, the hard drive will go to sleep.

I've tried resetting the SMC and PRAM.

This change occured when i began using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse (both apple).

The settings in bluetooth are correct - but I understand that the hard drive should be going to sleep (on its own).

Any help would be appreciated.
