My iPhone 5 is taking blurry pictures.

My iPhone is taking grainy and blurry pictures the majority of the time. It is quite disappointing since I have used a 4s that I think takes much better pictures.

I had the problem with blurry pics with my iPhone 5 and found the cause was leaving the camera app on and placing the iPhone camera lens down. If i turned the app off and then turned it back on again my pictures were fine. I was using the phone in my plane to take pics and would leave the app functioning and then place it on the seat next to me, when I'd take the next pics they would all be blurry. If I turned it off and then reactivated the app for the next pic, they were all fine. My solution, not to complex but hope it is helpful to some with a similar problem.

Try the smack option. I still find it absurd that the 'hit it better' approach works but...it does! Idid it just now. My carry had been blurry for a few days - I put it down to momentary shaky hands but the problem didn't go away, no matter whose hands my phone was in. Am about to go on holiday so was quite concerned - have been close to purchasing an unnecessary entry level camcorder and camera for those purposes. Thank goodness it's sorted. Try the smack first. Don't knock it before you try it (couldn't resist...)

Am in the Apple store now. They wiped my phone, restored it. The camera still doesn't work properly. Backward camera works, but not forward camera.

They won't replace it because I'm out of warranty. Should I go to another Apple store?

I'm pretty ticked about this. This malfunction happened after I updated the most recent IOS. I shouldn't have to pay $266 for a replacement when this is Apple's problem.

Suggestions?

I've read through many, many pages of these comments, but everyone else seems to have their phone replaced without problems.

Thanks for any help.

you know what, I also thought the Smacking the face front on the floor was a BIG Joke! I had this blurry camera issue on my iPhone5 for so long now. I didn't have it checked because i'm buying a new one anyways (iPhone 6 plus). Since I don't really care about this phone anymore, I tested it and drop it from a waist high face front on a carpeted floor, and guess what? it worked! hahahaha. Thanks for the help. I can give this phone now to my brother and he can use the camera.

Nice one! This worked for my iPhone 5 camera which recently started having a problem focusing, resulting in a blurry image. But please use a softer surface. A hard surface like a desk is more likely to cause internal damage - and don't even think about using a desk if you don't have a case. Instead try slapping it against the palm of your hand, your leg, or on a couch or mattress.
