when zooming in on a picture the final picture snapped was always of the lower part of the frame and not of the image cenetered in the screen. This happened on Sept 29th and Sept 30th when I first used the zoom function. When I tried it again today the issue seemed to have been fixed. Don't know what is going on. Anyone else with similar issue?

I also notice the purple flaring that others have discussed, but for me this is secondary to the framing issues.
I powered off and back on- it has corrected the issue itself.... I'll have to see if it happens again.
A powered down and restart fixed it, thanks dcparkcity (BTW, I love Park City!!)

Yes I have the same issue,this problem occur every time when you flick to video recorder while still in the zoom mode on camera.
You need to reboot your iPhone to fit this.hope apple will release fix soon

I think the power down fixed my issue too. Haven't seen it so far. Will follow up on Derekpang's comment since I was using the video camera before I had the zoom issue. Will see if I can replicate it again.
Unfortunately, Pusalkar, I just replicated the problem. The mis alignment was not as severe as the first time. Derekpang is correct with his event sequencing of the problem. I now recall that is what I was doing when it first started. I am unaware if it has been reported. ( Paul, thx). A power down/up has corrected the issue again, but a fix would be better.
Went to Apple store today to address the zoom issue. They tried reinstalling the iOS6 and it didn't work. They gave me a new iPhone 5 but was able to replicate the same issue on the new iPhone. Followed that with replicating the issue on the tech support guys iPhone. Now the Apple store is going to report it as a major glitch in software to be addressed in the next iOS6 update. So it seems to be a software issue and not a hardware issue.

My wife and I went to a once a year historical event. She shot several pictures with her new iPhone. SAME ISSUE! She was NOT a happy camper. I restarted the phone tonight and it "fixed" the problem for now. HEY APPLE, NEEDS A PERMINATE FIX!
Anyone know if this has been fixed? My 8yr old daughter is mad at me.

I havent heard of the fix yet.... But, if you power off and turn the phone back on, it will rest the focus issue. However, if you zoom in again on photo mode - and then switch to video- it will happen again.
