gmail not woking on iphone and ipad after i done the 2-step verification for security purpose

Thank you for your very full reply. I have tried the first method but it only works for a while. Then it reverts to asking for a verification code again. I suspect this is something to do with cookie setting. Before I updated software I was not having any problems.

The cookie setting only has three options, never, always or don't allow from third party. I have it set for don't allow from third party and for security reasons I think this is right.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I did not want to bypass the gmail two step verification as if my iPad was stolen with the two step I can look my email from my main PC.

If all else fails I can just keep adding verification code generated when ever I log in to my gmail account.

I have tried ticking the box when asked for code to remember my iPad but this does not work
