I have the same problem. At my work and home networks, signal strength is one bar when it had been full signal a couple of days ago and shows full signal on all of my other devices. I dont believe its just a display error either as my facetime connection is now very unreliable. It's very frustrating.
about my username...I made it in the heat of anger when my wifi was initially not working on post-up day 0. I have since made a mental note not to make any important decisions or get any tattoos when angry.. anyone know how to change a username?
Update to my previous post: I installed speedtest.net on both my ipads running ios 6 and ran tests at varying distances from my router. Even though my ipad 3 always showed a wifi weak signal, download/upload speed was about the same as my ipad 2 which showed different wifi signal strength depending on distance from router. For me, this appears to an issue with the wifi signal strength indicator on the desk top.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

It's been nearly two months since the last post in this thread and I wonder if a proven solution to my problem has been found. Immediately after upgrading to IOS6 (6.0.1) on two iPhones and an iPad, they each showed greatly reduced signal strength on our home wifi network, and they each cease connecting within a short distance from the router, having previously connected well beyond the house boundary. This cannot be a router problem, or a hardware fault or some error at the Apple site - it resulted from the IOS6 upgrade. i have tried just about everything suggested on various forums but to no avail. Is it possible to downgrade back to the previous IOS?
I'm in exactly the same boat. The wifi range on my iPad 2 since upgrading to IOS6 has dropped to about 12 feet. On IOS 5 I would get coverage throughout my entire house. This is an IOS 6 thing, it's not a router thing. I've tried a full restore to factory settings and the problem remains.
I'm pretty angry about this. My iPad is now borderline useless. None of the published fixes work.
This is an iPad 2 problem running iOS6. We have and iPad 1 and a brand new iPad mini and signal strength remain strong on both. iPad 1 runs iOS5. I have read on other posts that folks have taken their problem directly to Apple and recieved new iPads. Mine is still covered under extended warranty so I will try this route and hope for the best. Very frustrating.
