I have ipad1(yeah its old enough), but still works...
Let me know if i convert a word doc to a format which ibooks support. If its a format which is similar to what iAuthor gives, it would be great.

No program of any sort for any device can duplicate the format used by iBooks Author.
For apps that can create the more general epub format, search the app store for "epub".

PS Pages for iPad cannot produce .epub format (but the version for OS X can do so).
Can i use works on ipad 1 and produce a epub book from word doc.
