AppleCare+ allows for replacement at a reduced price if you drop the iDevice. With the standard coverage there is no reduction in price.
Of course, the best protection plan is not dropping the iPhone 😝
No warranty completely covers accidental damage. The AppleCare+ extension, if available, gives partial coverage to out-of-warranty damage and replacement.

No. Applecare does not cover damage which is what dropping an iPhone is.
There is also Applecare+ that will get you a replacement in case of damage at a reduced cost.

I suggest if you are that clumsy that you get an otter box case or some other protective case for the phone.
And what I meant by AppleCare+ if available: the plan is available in the US, but not all other countries, and since you did not say where you live...
