I tested this on the way to the office and it does work to make texting via bluetooth on the ford sync. Go to settings on your iphone -> bluetooth -> select the device, mine is "sync", then set show notifications to on. You should then be able to receive text messaging through ford sync. This is only for Iphone 4 and above, mine is an Iphone 5 with the most current OS.

I have just purchased a 2913 explorer only to find my IPhone does not support text messaging to Sync. This is unbelievable. To Apple I say "Really" this does not make you look like the industry leader at all. I regret having purchased and IPAD and an Iphone now. Apply needs to get with the program and quit relying on their passed leader.

My iPhone 4S and 2013 Ford Escape text messaging function actually worked for several weeks. But recently it has stopped working. The Ford screen states that the device does not support this function. This makes no sense since it was working before. I checked all the settings and notifications are still enabled. Has anyone had this issue?

Bmg, have you actually got an iPhone sending text messages to Ford's Sync system, or are you simply guessing that a Sync update will do it?

I do infact have one done through Sync with a 4S, AND a 3GS.... In a Ford. When iOS was released, both phones were updated and would no longer connect... Looked here for an answer and couldn't find one. A week later, the car was taken to Ford for an oil change and they did a software update for the GPS and operation of the system, and that update fixed the Sync issue. As soon as we started the car, both phones were able to connect.

It's an Apple problem! Apple is missing the boat altogether. They won't allow iPhone to sync with text messaging and voicemail for some reason. Lame. Get with the program Apple!

Jimmy... You are quite confused...Tell me... WHY would Apple prevent the iPhone to sync, to a system they participated in designing... They participated so that more cars would be sold with "Sync", increasing an interest in people wanting to get an iPhone for the ease of utilizing it in your car... So please.. think before you speak.

I found where ther may be a solution to this on the ford sync site. Iphone 5 supports MAP but you have to change a setting. Go to settings-> bluetooth-> select the device, mine is "SYNC", then set show notifications to on. I have changed mine this morning but have not actually tried it yet. According to the post on the syncmyford.com community this will make it work. Once I have tried it I will post the results.
