I have the same question and it appears that nobody has bothered to respond to the question "is it possible to either find a compatable G3 wireless card that not only fits the slot but functions properly or alternatively to find an adapter of some kind that can connect the card via the USB port"?

No, you cannot adapt for the pc card but...

according to more than one site this morning, there should be an expresscard out in May or June from Novatel?? that will be EVDO for both Sprint and Verizon (differing model numbers though) that will be MAC compatible. Apparently Dell will put the card out under its name too but the original will be a MAC compatible card and available for us.

I found the reference url:

This is a hopeful sign for all of us who have been waiting for express card options so that we could migrate to MBPs.

I have roughly the same problem. I need to use an UMTS/HSDPA card with a MacBookPro. A USB-based solution has been announced by T-Mobile, but will not show up until late July (web'n'walk-Box mini). I know there was an announcement for an UMTS-Expresscard/34, but T-Mobile does not carry it over here.
My workaround was to use a UMTS-Phone (which cannot use HSDPA, so I´m limited to 384Kbit/s) via bluetooth until better solutions will arrive.

Bye, Frido.
