i'm having a problem with video quality in final cut pro x. when importing mov, avi, and mp4 files (any file) into final cut pro x, the video becomes slightly blurry and the color pales. this is not satisfactory and i hope is not normal...... it really craps up the video. i've tried importing many files, from sd cards, to cameras, to vhs tapes and the same thing happens. i'm importing the standard way; command e, optimize, analyze, etc... tried not optimizing, etc... the editing is great, but it's not worth anything if the video quality keeps getting corrupted. has anyone experienced this? and any solutions? thank you.

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You should not use AVI or MPEG-4 in FCP. The media needs to be optimized.

You really need to give complete and exact information about your media. Screen shots of the QT movie isnpector for instance. You also need to give specifics of what you're seeing and what you're comparing it to. Basicall you're saying here that it's all bad, which is just plain wrong. Good video will remain good in FCP. Video in highest quality and resolution will remain that way in the application and output video of the same quality.

thanks for your reply Tom. the video is from cameras, video cameras, vhs tapes, and mini dvds. everything looks much worse after import into fcpx; i haven't imported hd files. The specs. are, everything gets blurry and color pales. i just tried importing four more files (and optimized), all mov, (no avi or mp4), and there is no change in quality. I'm comparing the video in fcpx to the same video before it was imported. i've compared it side by side to the files being played in quicktime, real player, idvd, and el gato eye tv (third party video capture software). everything is crisp and color is vibrant before going into fcpx.
